The President of the United States, Donald Trump, issued a new and harsh message against the Iranian regime on Sunday, amid ongoing negotiations and heightened military tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on Truth Social, the former president accused the Iranian regime of "playing" with Washington for nearly five decades and asserted that this situation "is over."
"For 47 years, Iran has been playing with the United States and the rest of the world," Trump wrote, claiming that Tehran used tactics of "delay, delay, delay" to advance its goals while negotiating with various U.S. administrations.
The Republican former president specifically targeted former President Barack Obama, whom he blamed for strengthening the Iranian regime during his tenure.
According to Trump, Obama "sided with Iran," abandoned Israel and other U.S. allies, and allowed Tehran to receive enormous sums of money.
Trump stated that the Democratic administration provided "hundreds of billions of dollars" to Iran and recalled the transfer of "1.7 billion dollars in cash" to Tehran.
"It was so much money that when it arrived, the Iranian thugs didn't know what to do with it," he wrote. He also claimed that the cash was transported "in suitcases and bags."
The former U.S. president argued that Iran exploited the perceived weakness of previous U.S. administrations for decades.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated this Sunday that the war against Iran cannot yet be considered over, as the Tehran regime maintains reserves of enriched uranium and the capacity to continue developing nuclear infrastructure and strategic weaponry.
In statements to CBS News, the Israeli leader argued that this material "must be removed" from Iranian territory and warned that there are still "many tasks ahead" to neutralize Tehran's military capabilities.
During an interview for the "60 Minutes" program, Netanyahu stated that the recent American and Israeli attacks had significantly impacted Iran's nuclear program, but clarified that the strategic objectives have not yet been fully achieved.
"It is not over, because there is still nuclear material, enriched uranium, that must be removed from Iran," the Israeli leader declared. He also pointed out that facilities related to uranium enrichment remain operational and that these structures "must be dismantled."
When asked how the removal of the nuclear material could be accomplished, Netanyahu responded: "One goes in and takes it out."
Although he avoided providing operational details, he left open the possibility of a direct action to secure control of the uranium stored by the Iranian regime.
The Prime Minister also indicated that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, shares a similar view on the matter.

On the afternoon of 25 September 1944, William Harrison, a US soldier stationed in Northern Ireland, visited the cottage of the Wylie family in Killycolpy, County Tyrone, and offered to buy treats for the children.
He had visited before and was, if not a friend, at least known to the family. Mary Wylie let him take her seven-year-old daughter, Patricia, better known as Patsy, across the fields to the shops.

Writing by Narges Mohammadi, arrested 14 times for activism, offers a disturbing insight into treatment
In an exclusive extract of writing smuggled from prison in Iran, the Nobel peace prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has described the “torture” of solitary confinement, and her systematic medical neglect by the prison system.
The writing from the past decade will be part of a soon to be published memoir that gives a rare and alarming insight into the treatment of Mohammadi, who is in critical condition. It details beatings, constant interrogations, deprivation of medical care and long stretches in solitary confinement during her numerous imprisonments.

International concern over the health of Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Narges Mohammadi, has grown after she was hospitalized for nine days in a hospital in Zanjan, in northern Iran.
According to her close circle, the prognosis is grim. "We are not only fighting for Narges' freedom, we are fighting to keep her heart beating," said her lawyer, Chirinnne Ardakani, who warned that the 54-year-old woman is currently "between life and death."
Mohammadi is a journalist and is known for her tireless activism against the death penalty and the mandatory wearing of the veil. Since December 12th, she has been imprisoned after being arrested in Mashhad following her criticism of Iranian religious authorities during a memorial service for lawyer Josrou Alikordi, who had died weeks earlier under "mysterious circumstances."
Since then, her loved ones have reported that she has lost approximately 20 kilograms (about 44 pounds) during her imprisonment.
The activist's condition deteriorated sharply in the Zanyán prison, in northern Iran. According to reports from her support committee, Mohammadi suffered two alleged heart attacks – the first on March 24th and the second on May 1st – which prompted her recent transfer to the hospital due to a worsening condition.
For 25 years, Mohammadi has faced multiple arrests and trials for her humanitarian work. Last February, she received a new sentence of six years for...

Taghi Rahmani, the husband of Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, reported that the activist remains in critical condition after being hospitalized for nine days in a hospital in Zanjan, northwest of Iran.
"Today marks nine days since Narges Mohammadi was admitted to the hospital. Her blood pressure has dropped to 90/40, and her overall condition is unstable; she is even finding it difficult to speak," Rahmani stated on social media.
Rahmani indicated that doctors are temporarily managing Mohammadi's condition, who is experiencing severe chest pain, likely due to a suspected diagnosis of vasospastic angina, through medication. However, her situation remains "unstable" and requires more appropriate treatment urgently.
The Narges Mohammadi Foundation announced that both the family and the doctors have requested the urgent transfer of the activist to a hospital in Tehran, although the prosecutor's office continues to oppose this move.
Mohammadi began a hunger strike in February to protest the conditions of her detention. She was arrested on December 12th during a memorial event for lawyer Josrou Alikordi, who had died weeks earlier under "mysterious circumstances."
The activist was granted provisional release in December 2024 following a medical request approved by the Tehran Prosecutor's Office. Previously, in October, she was hospitalized after her family reported that the authorities were preventing her from receiving medical treatment.

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, stated this Thursday that the meeting he had with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, at the White House served to take "an important step" in the relationship between the two countries.
"The good relationship between Brazil and the United States is a demonstration to the world that the two largest democracies on the continent can serve as an example for the world," he declared at a press conference at the Brazilian embassy in Washington.
Lula said that he is leaving the American capital convinced that "an important step was taken in the democratic and historical relationship that Brazil has with the United States."
The Brazilian president explained that the tone of the meeting was cordial.
He recounted that he advised Trump to maintain a relaxed attitude and smile for the cameras, and even joked by asking him not to restrict visas for the Brazilian national team during the FIFA World Cup this summer in the United States.
Lula appeared at a press conference at the Brazilian embassy after nearly three hours of meetings at the White House, which was longer than planned, and was the first meeting between the two in Washington.
Although both were scheduled to address the press in the Oval Office, that did not happen, but Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that the meeting was "very good," called his Brazilian counterpart "dynamic," and revealed that they mainly discussed tariffs.

Explosions in Bandar Abbas and on the island of Qeshm have rocked the Strait of Hormuz amid accusations exchanged between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, according to reports from Iranian state media. Two high-ranking Iranian officials told The New York Times that Abu Dhabi had attacked three targets on the island of Qeshm, in what would have been retaliation for a previous Iranian attack on the Emirati city of Fujairah.
According to the Times, the targets hit were the Bahman pier in Qeshm, a naval construction facility on the island, and an Iranian air force base in Bandar Abbas. The state-run Fars News agency confirmed that parts of the Bahman pier were hit during "an exchange of fire between the Iranian armed forces and the enemy."
The Mizan agency, citing its own sources, attributed some of the explosions heard in Qeshm to air defense systems that reportedly shot down several small drones. The semi-official Tasnim agency, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that two drones were shot down over Bandar Abbas.
Tasnim also reported that the IRGC had fired warning shots at vessels attempting to cross the strait. Previously, some media outlets had suggested that the explosions may have been caused by the detonation of unexploded ordnance.
The same agency warned that, if the Emirati involvement is confirmed, "..."

"Violent left-wing extremists" and "extremist transgender ideology" are among the most concerning threats facing the country, according to the Trump administration's counterterrorism strategy released Wednesday.
The strategy, the first released in President Donald Trump's second term, highlights how Trump's priorities differ from his predecessors, listing "violent left-wing extremists" as one of its top three focuses, alongside "narcoterrorists" and "Islamist terrorists."
This represents a significant departure from the Biden administration, which focused on extremism on the right. Former President Joe Biden called white supremacy the "most dangerous terrorist threat" to the nation in 2023.
The Trump team is also examining how domestic online activities could incite violence, a focus that follows an increase in political violence, such as the multiple attempted assassinations of Trump and the killing of Charlie Kirk.
"We see a threat, we will respond to it, and we will crush it, whether it is the cartels, the jihadists, or violent left-wing extremists like antifa and like the transgender killers, the non-binary, the left-wing radicals who killed my friend Charlie Kirk, we will take them on, head on," senior director for counterterrorism Sebastian Gorka told reporters on a call Wednesday.
Gorka emphasized that the counterterrorism team is focused on all online groups that are "inciting violence against innocent individuals" on both sides of the political spectrum.

The French shipping company CMA CGM announced this Wednesday that one of its ships was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.
"The CMA CGM San Antonio was the target of an attack yesterday while transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries to crew members and damage to the ship," the shipping company stated, adding that the injured were evacuated for treatment.
President Emmanuel Macron stated that France "was not the target at all," according to government spokesperson Maud Bregeon.
The ship, registered in Malta, was not flying the French flag, and its crew was Filipino, Bregeon added, expressing France's solidarity with the crew.
The attack occurred a day after U.S. President Donald Trump launched the so-called "Operation Freedom" to facilitate the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday, Trump announced the suspension of the U.S. military operation to escort ships through the strategic strait, in an attempt to reach an agreement with Iran to end the war.
Iran has refused to cede control of the strait, using it as a bargaining chip in the conflict, which began with U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran at the end of February.
"We have mutually agreed that, while the blockade remains in full effect, Operation Freedom... will be paused for a short period of time," Trump said in his social media posts.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) highlighted one of the most sensitive issues for the region's economies: the lack of competition in markets. This phenomenon directly translates into higher prices for consumers and lower wages for workers.
During the presentation of the report "Markets and Development: How Competition Can Improve Lives," Gloria Lugo, the IDB's representative in Panama, warned that the country is not immune to this reality, despite its structural strengths.
According to the report, markets in Latin America and the Caribbean exhibit concentration levels up to four times higher than those in advanced economies, which limits effective competition and reduces the economic well-being of the population.
This phenomenon is not merely technical; it means that fewer companies dominate key sectors, with the ability to influence prices, restrict supply, and capture a larger proportion of the value generated in the economy.
This concentration has a direct impact on people's incomes. On average, workers in the region receive only 50 cents for every dollar of value they generate, a figure significantly lower than the 81 cents recorded in developed economies.
In the case of Panama, the figure is even lower: 48 cents per dollar, which reflects a significant gap between productivity and compensation.
According to Lugo, this result is not coincidental, but rather…

Unions group wants rate returned from 3% to 8% after big four UK lenders reveal £14bn total profit in first quarter
An increased windfall tax should be imposed on the UK’s largest banks according to trade union leaders, after the big four lenders reported almost £14bn in first-quarter profits, partly fuelled by market turbulence caused by the Iran war.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) renewed its call for an increase in the current bank surcharge, which was reduced from 8% to 3% of profits above £100m by the Conservative government in 2023, as banks benefit from the high interest rate environment.

A new technical paper, “EnergAIzer: Fast and Accurate GPU Power Estimation Framework for AI Workloads,” was published by researchers at MIT and IBM Research.
Abstract
“As AI workloads drive increases in datacenter power consumption, accurate GPU power estimation is critical for proactive power management. However, existing power models face a scalability bottleneck not in the modeling techniques themselves, but in obtaining the hardware utilization inputs they require. Conventional approaches rely on either costly simulation or hardware profiling, which makes them impractical when rapid predictions are required.
This work presents EnergAIzer, which addresses this scalability bottleneck by developing a lightweight solution to predict utilization inputs, reducing the estimation walltime from hours to seconds. Our key insight is that kernels in AI workloads commonly employ optimizations that create structured patterns, which analytically determine memory traffic and execution timeline. We construct a performance model using these patterns as an analytical scaffold for empirical data fitting, which also naturally exposes module-level utilization. This predicted utilization is then fed into our power model to estimate dynamic power consumption.
EnergAIzer achieves 8% power errors on NVIDIA Ampere GPUs, competitive with traditional power models with elaborate cycle-level simulation or hardware profiling. We demonstrate EnergAIzer’s exploration capabilities for frequency scaling and architectural configurations, including forecasting the power of NVIDIA H100 with just 7% error. In summary, EnergAIzer provides fast and accurate power prediction for AI workloads, paving the way for power-aware design explorations.”
