More Information: President Claudia Sheinbaum has requested that the Senate of the Republic approve authorization for 35 members of the United States Armed Forces, specializing in explosive detection and disposal, and threat management, to enter Mexican territory with weapons. This is to participate in the SOF 32 event, entitled "Training in Preparation for the FIFA 2026 World Cup and VITAL ARCHER Exercise," which will be conducted jointly with personnel from the Mexican Navy from April 3 to May 1, 2026. The presidential request, published in the Parliamentary Gazette and referred to the Navy Commission for approval, states that this training is specifically aimed at members of the Mexican Navy's Naval Special Operations Unit, the Naval Airport Protection Unit, and the FIFA World Cup Task Force 2026 (FTCMF 2026). Also, for the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), and aims to strengthen preparations for the FIFA World Cup and to conduct tests to prepare the FTCMF 2026 to react to any contingency and improve the interoperability of different Navy units and first responders. The 35 members of the United States Armed Forces will arrive with weapons and military equipment aboard a "Hercules C-130" transport aircraft belonging to the air force of that country. Of these, four (4) members belong to the Seventh Special Forces Group of the Army, twenty-three (23) members to the Navy SEAL Team 8; two (2) members are technicians from the Navy's explosive ordnance disposal team, and six members are from the United States Department of Defense's Threat Reduction Agency. Adolfo López Mateos" and the Naval Special Operations Unit in Donato Guerra, State of Mexico; from April 18 to 23 at the "Benito Juárez" International Airport in Mexico City; from April 24 to 28 at the facilities of the National Port System Administration in Veracruz; and from April 29 to 30 at the facilities of the headquarters building of the Secretariat of the Navy in Mexico City.
