The TEDxAmazônia 2026 event will be held outside of Brazil for the first time. The next edition of the event will take place between August 27th and 30th in Ecuador, in the cities of Baños and Puyo. This represents a unique collaboration with TEDxQuito, and the goal is to expand the reach of the initiative within the Amazon Basin itself.
Under the theme "Where Everything Connects," the event proposes an integrated understanding of the Amazon as a living system that extends from the glaciers of the Andes mountain range to the rainforest, influencing the global climate balance.

"Bringing TEDxAmazônia to Ecuador is an acknowledgment that the Amazon cannot be understood solely within national borders. We are talking about a living system that connects mountains, rivers, forests, and people. This edition represents a strategic step to position Amazonian solutions at the center of global decision-making," says Rodrigo V. Cunha, the licensed organizer of TEDxAmazônia.
The choice of host cities for 2026 aims to foster a greater territorial connection. Baños, located at the foot of the Andes, is considered a gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon, while Puyo is already located within the rainforest. The idea is for the territory itself to embody the narrative.

"Taking TEDxAmazônia to Ecuador is recognizing that the Amazon cannot be thought of within national borders. We are talking about a living system that connects mountains, rivers, forests, and people. This edition represents a strategic step to position Amazonian solutions at the center of global decision-making," says Rodrigo V. Cunha, licensed organizer of TEDxAmazônia.
The choice of host cities for 2026 aims for greater territorial connection. Baños, located at the foot of the Andes, is considered the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon, while Puyo is already located within the forest. The proposal is for the territory itself to translate the narrative of the event, connecting mountain and jungle as parts of the same ecological and cultural system.
"We are building a concrete bridge between the Andes and the Ecuadorian Amazon. More than an event, it is a movement that invites action in the face of the climate crisis, reinforcing that everything is connected: political decisions, economies, cultures, and ecosystems," says Mariana Camardelli, general director of TEDxAmazônia.

Pre-registration to attend the event is now open, and interested individuals will need to go through a selection process. The application period will be ten days, with results expected by the end of April. A process for nominating speakers will also be open during the same period.
"This first collaboration between independent TEDx events brings the Voices of the Andes and the 'Voices of the Forest' together in a unique dialogue. Through a global lens, we are not only talking about climate change—we are tracing the path of the water that flows from our glaciers to the rivers that sustain the lungs that the world depends on," says Verônica Reed, organizer of TEDxQuito and co-organizer of this edition.
The event's curatorship will include an advisory board composed of leaders linked to forest protection and organizations that work in the Amazon, including national and international institutions with a focus on climate, biodiversity, and bioeconomy.
Created in 2010 in Manaus, TEDxAmazônia brings together leaders, scientists, activists, and communities to discuss solutions and paths for the region. After a hiatus of more than a decade, the event was resumed in 2023 and has been expanding its activities, consolidating itself as a space for debate on the climate crisis and the future of the Amazon.
Agência Brasil covered the latest editions of the event in 2024, in Manaus, and in 2025, in Belém. One of them gave rise to a series of articles and the podcast "Trilhas Amazônicas."
