Latest rain in the South and snow on the Alps, stable weather from Tuesday

Latest rains in the South, over Salento and the Tyrrhenian sectors of Calabria and Sicily, accompanied by Mistral winds that in the Center-South will cause a drop in maximum temperatures of 2-4 degrees; in the evening, the arrival of cold air at high altitudes will favor snowfall along the central-eastern Alpine arc and in the Aosta Valley, down to altitudes between 1,400 and 1,500 meters. From Tuesday 27 October, and at least until Thursday, the return of a solid high-pressure field over the Mediterranean basin is expected. This is indicated by the forecasts of Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist at iLMeteo.it. Thanks to the high pressure caused by the arrival of the anticyclone, "conditions of widespread stability with plenty of sunny spells over most areas" are expected, with maximum temperatures generally rising throughout the country. During the night, however, the absence of cloud cover will favor the dispersal of the heat accumulated during the day and a drop in minimum temperatures. The result will be a "remarkable temperature swing, with day-night differences of up to 12-14°C," Gussoni observes. In detail: Sunday 25: in the North, stable and dry weather, light snowfall on the border Alps above 1,600 meters; minimum values between 4 and 6°C on the plains; in the Center, partly cloudy or hazy skies; cold climate at dawn with minimums around 5°C in inland valleys and maximums contained between 16 and 18°C; in the South and on the Islands, residual precipitation in the morning over Salento and the Tyrrhenian sectors of Calabria and Sicily, northerly winds and maximums not exceeding 19-20°C. Monday 26: in the North, stability with clear or partly cloudy skies, cool in the morning; in the Center, stable and widely sunny weather; in the South and on the Islands: prevailing fair weather conditions, residual northerly ventilation. Tuesday 27: in the North, stable and sunny weather everywhere, cool in the morning; in the Center, clear skies, maximum temperatures rising; in the South and on the Islands, stable weather conditions, winds from the northern quadrants along the coasts.
