A total of two people arrested and 106 motorcycles removed from circulation was the result of an inspection operation carried out by Carabineros in four municipalities of the Metropolitan Region. The procedure was led by personnel from the institution's Traffic and Highways Prefecture in the municipalities of Santiago, Independencia, Recoleta and Estación Central, with the aim of verifying legal driving conditions, vehicle documentation and drivers' records. According to the police report, the inspections allowed 156 traffic violations to be cited, of which 106 resulted in motorcycles being removed from circulation due to non-compliance with current regulations. Among the main irregularities detected, Carabineros reported that 88 drivers were caught riding motorcycles without having obtained a driver's license. Added to this were 11 cases of expired documentation, two drivers who were not carrying their license, two motorcycles with expired technical inspections, one driver with an expired license control date, one vehicle with an expired homologation certificate, and one procedure for concealing a license plate. In parallel, two people were arrested during the inspections. One of them for the crime of falsifying a public document, while the second had two outstanding arrest warrants. Major Nicolás Silva, commissioner of the 32nd Traffic Police Station, highlighted the importance of maintaining this type of control to prevent accidents and detect irregularities. "During this service, 156 violations were cited and, of those, 106 ended with motorcycles being removed from circulation. Within these procedures, 88 drivers were caught riding without having obtained a license, which constitutes an especially concerning situation from the point of view of road safety," he stated. Likewise, the officer emphasized that riding motorcycles requires special responsibility, due to the greater exposure of their occupants to potential traffic accidents. "These inspections do not have solely a punitive objective. They seek to detect and remove from circulation those vehicles and drivers who do not meet legal requirements and, mainly, to prevent traffic accidents and protect everyone who shares the road," he added.
