The president counselor of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Guadalupe Taddei, announced that she is staying at the head of that institution and accused political strong-arming aimed at weakening it.
During a meeting held this Saturday by the electoral counselors of this institution, Taddei assured them that she is not leaving the presidency.
"I'm not leaving, I remain firm at the Institute," she told the counselors during a meeting they held remotely this Saturday.
In response to the corruption allegations that intensified against her and her circle of close collaborators this week, the president counselor of the INE stated that it is merely "political strong-arming" and that she will take a few days to reflect on the cases.
The board of counselors had scheduled the meeting days earlier to conclude pending matters regarding the operation of the Local Electoral Public Bodies (OPLEs), and it was there that the topic of a possible resignation was raised.
Her announcement comes after accusations of possible acts of corruption made public by media outlets such as EL UNIVERSAL and Reforma, the ex officio investigation opened by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF), and various demands to investigate the case.
