"It was not a meeting of two presidential candidates, but of two former presidents," said Senator Paulina Vodanovic, chairwoman of the Socialist Party, about the meeting that opposition leaders held with former presidents Michelle Bachelet and Gabriel Boric, who reportedly made "a call to action." In addition, she expressed her rejection of the new security reform by senators and urged the lawmakers of her bloc "not to cross over to the other side at the first siren song, as has been the case until now." On other matters, she questioned the possibility that President José Antonio Kast might grant pardons — reinforcing her distance from Carolina Tohá — said that it "is necessary and is possible" for a coalition to exist from the Communist Party to the Christian Democratic Party, and stated that from the PS, on the occasion of the commemoration of October 18, "we do not share, nor condone, the violence or the events that occurred in terms of human rights violations."
