The League of Anti-Corruption Governors, the party founded by the late former presidential candidate Rodolfo Hernández, is preparing its deepest transformation since its creation. According to what EL TIEMPO learned through sources close to the leadership of the party, the organization will change its name, renew its image, and adopt a position openly aligned with the new international right. The decision will be officially presented during a meeting scheduled for October 3, in which more than 300 guests from different regions of the country will participate. According to the information known to this newspaper, the transformation seeks to bring the party closer to right-wing political currents that today have prominence in various countries. Among the ideological references mentioned by leaders of the organization are Argentine President Javier Milei, Salvadoran leader Nayib Bukele, former U.S. President Donald Trump, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Vox leader Santiago Abascal, and Peruvian politician Keiko Fujimori. Sources close to the leadership explained that the name and logo change responds to the need to align with what they consider a new right-wing current that is gaining ground on the international stage and that, in the view of its leaders, lacks consolidated representation in Colombia. The brand renewal would also aim to attract new political leaders of national reach and strengthen the party's participation in upcoming electoral contests, especially with an eye on the 2027 regional elections. Although the names of the leaders and national figures who would join this new phase remain under wraps, sources consulted indicated that the party seeks to build a broader political platform under the ideological umbrella of the right, supporting the current government of Abelardo de la Espriella. However, the expectation within the organization is that the announcement will mark the beginning of a new political stage that will allow them to expand their territorial presence and become a relevant player in the upcoming local elections for governorships, mayoralties, assemblies, and councils throughout the country. THE CREATION OF THE POLITICAL PARTYThe political party League of Anti-Corruption Governors began its political movement in October 2019, when Rodolfo Hernández, who has since passed away, had served as Mayor of Bucaramanga and later became a presidential candidate. In the 2022 elections he obtained a significant vote count and finished in second place, behind Gustavo Petro. Rodolfo Hernández, candidate for the Presidency. The League of Anti-Corruption Governors was characterized by the slogan "Logic, ethics and aesthetics," used during Rodolfo Hernández's 2022 presidential campaign. The party was also associated with the message "don't steal, don't lie, and don't betray," principles that had been used by Hernández during his campaign for Mayor of Bucaramanga and that became some of the main pillars of his political discourse.
