The gun attack left a tragic toll of four young men murdered on the unpaved road connecting the villages of Tierrabaja and Puerto Rey, within the jurisdiction of the district of La Boquilla. The violent episode reactivates the alarms of the authorities and police intelligence regarding the bloody territorial disputes that criminal structures are waging for control of the micro-trafficking and stockpiling routes in this strip of the Bolívar capital. The security meeting was attended by the Metropolitan Police Command of Cartagena, the Attorney General's Office, the National Navy, Migration Colombia, and the Ombudsman's Office. According to preliminary reports from the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena, the victims — young men between the ages of 20 and 22 — were traveling in a private car when they were mercilessly intercepted by armed criminals who emerged from the shadows on motorcycles. During the session, the institutional commanders evaluated the initial hypotheses of the judicial investigators, which preliminarily point to the indiscriminate execution inside a white Chevrolet Sail being the result of a direct confrontation between criminal structures disputing territorial control and micro-trafficking in this coastal strip. However, there is no trace of the perpetrators of the multiple crime. In light of this situation, the immediate operational strengthening of the city was determined with the arrival of a specialized unit of the National Police, which will reinforce patrols and intelligence together with the Marine Infantry components. The actions will cover not only the crime scene, but also strategic points in La Boquilla and nearby villages.
