Following a raid on a warehouse located in Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, used for the manufacture and distribution of illicit cigarettes, federal agents arrested three men, two of them of foreign nationality, and seized 60 tons of counterfeit cigarettes, equivalent to approximately 2 million units.

"The manufacture and sale of these illicit products not only harms the formal economy, but also puts the health of those who consume them at risk," said the head of the SSPC.
Later, a statement from the agency detailed that they also secured 32 boxes of unfinished cigarettes, 80 cigarette trays, 170 boxes containing 102,000 cigarette packs, one compressor, 646 packages of brand labels, 701 rolls of adhesive paper for labels, 2,926 rolls of cellophane paper, 4,032 rolls of green cigarette paper, and 780 rolls of white cigarette paper, all used for the manufacture and distribution of illicit cigarettes.

The search warrant at the location stemmed from intelligence and investigation work related to the sale and distribution of illegal products in the State of Mexico, and involved personnel from the SSPC, the Secretariat of the Navy (Marina), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defensa), and the Attorney General's Office (FGR), through the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and with information from the National Intelligence Center (CNI).
Finally, the Security Cabinet emphasized that with these actions the commitment to combat the manufacture, sale, and distribution of illegal merchandise is reaffirmed, as well as the protection of the population from the risks associated with these products.
