TEHRAN, October 2. /TASS/. Ships belonging to Israel or other states deemed hostile by Iran, as well as vessels carrying military cargo, would be barred from transiting the Strait of Hormuz under a proposed bill aimed at regulating security along the strategic waterway, Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesman for the National Security Committee of Iran’s parliament, said. "Ships belonging to the Zionist regime and hostile states, as well as those conducting military operations against us or transporting military cargo, will not be permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz," Ghashghavi said in an interview with Tasnim. Vessels from other, non-hostile states would be required to obtain special transit permits from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces under regulations set out in the proposed legislation. Ghashghavi said the bill has already been reviewed by the relevant parliamentary committee and is awaiting consideration in an open plenary session of the Majlis. If approved, it will then be submitted to the Guardian Council for review.
