NEW YORK, October 1. /TASS/. Israel may take part in the investigation of the Flydubai flight incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
"The attacking pilot is now being investigated in in Saudi Arabia. I think he'll be taken to the Emirates where he comes from, or at least where he left, where he flew off from, and we’ll be following and possibly also participating in this investigation," he told Fox News.
According to the Israeli prime minister, the probe will establish the circumstances of the incident. "So we'll find out," he said, not specifying however the format of Israel’s potential participation in the investigation.
On September 30, a Flydubai passenger aircraft triggered a hijacking alert before landing in Saudi Arabia. Flydubai’s press service confirmed to TASS that all passengers were safe.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, the incident was caused by a fight between the two pilots. Israeli broadcaster i24News, citing eyewitnesses, reported that one of the pilots had been stabbed. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described the incident aboard the plane as an attempted terrorist attack.
