EY Chile and Fundación País Digital will hold the Hackatón HealthTech Summit País Digital by EY, a one-day technology challenge that will bring together students, professionals, and entrepreneurs to design solutions to real problems in the healthcare system. The competition will take place within the framework of the Summit País Digital 2026, next Tuesday, October 6, at the Hotel W in Santiago, and seeks to demonstrate, in practice, how artificial intelligence can make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and people-centered. This year, the challenge is organized around efficiency in clinical management and patient care. Participating teams will have to work with technologies such as generative AI, predictive models, and computer vision to build a functional prototype, and additionally, each team must include at least one female member, in order to reduce the existing gender gap in technology. The judging panel will define first, second, and third place, as well as honorable mentions, and will be composed of at least four specialists from the clinical, technological, and public policy fields, among whom the organizers seek to include representatives from both the healthcare industry and the public sector. "Today, technology allows small teams to build in days solutions that previously required months and large investments. In healthcare, the opportunity is enormous. Using AI to improve diagnosis, anticipate risks, and, above all, give time back to doctors and professionals so they can focus on patients. With this HealthTech Hackathon we want to find good questions, real problems of our healthcare system, and quickly turn them into concrete solutions," said Patricio Cofré, Data and AI Lead Partner at EY Chile. For his part, Fernando Sánchez, General Manager of Fundación País Digital, highlighted: "What is valuable about this Hackathon is that it goes beyond the awards: by bringing together public and private actors both on the jury and in the definition of the challenges, a path opens up so that the best solutions can later be tested in real healthcare environments. We want to create spaces where technological innovation has a concrete possibility of reaching the healthcare system and, with it, people." The Hackathon is an initiative of EY, a global professional services firm, and Fundación País Digital, with Microsoft as technology partner. The event connects with various actors in the health innovation ecosystem in Chile, promoting public-private partnerships. Together, they all contribute real challenges, clinical knowledge, and the capacity to scale the best ideas. As an additional incentive, the teams in the top three places will present their projects on October 7 during the Summit for the Health of the Future, organized by Corfo's Transforma Innovación en Salud program and sponsored by InterSystems, Rayen Salud, and UC Christus. In addition to the competition, there will be an open conversation from the podcast "La Previa de la Singularidad," a space to discuss the future of AI and its impact on health.
