Pope's special envoy visits detained Ukrainian service members — Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Pope Francis’ special envoy for humanitarian issues, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, visited detained Ukrainian service members in Moscow and saw for himself that Russia is strictly observing all relevant humanitarian standards, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "At the Vatican’s request, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi was allowed to visit a facility where Ukrainian service members detained for opposing the special military operation are being held. The Pope’s special envoy personally spoke with the Ukrainians and saw for himself that Russia is strictly observing all relevant humanitarian standards," the Foreign Ministry said. "The visit by Cardinal Matteo Zuppi confirmed the constructive and regular nature of Russian-Vatican dialogue and the commitment of both sides to continuing cooperation on humanitarian issues," the Foreign Ministry added.
