An explosion was recorded this Sunday at the Nevados de Chillán Volcanic Complex, with the emission of pyroclastic material and a column that reached 900 meters in height above the emission zone.
The episode was detected by the monitoring stations of the Southern Andes Volcano Observatory (OVDAS) of the National Geology and Mining Service (Sernageomin), which also observed incandescence and ballistic projection of material in the area near the crater, mainly toward the northwest.
The column generated by the activity showed a predominant dispersion toward the south-southeast of the volcanic edifice.
The complex remains at Yellow Technical Alert, while the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) continues with the Preventive Early Alert for the communes of Pinto and Coihueco, in effect since June 15.

The explosion was associated with earthquakes related to fluid dynamics, corresponding to long-period (LP) events and tremor. The technical report recorded a reduced displacement of 59 cm² and acoustic signals of less than 1 Pa reduced to one kilometer.
