Authorities in the department of Sucre remain active with risk management protocols following the strong earthquake felt this Monday across much of the national territory, which caused initial material damages in municipalities such as Sincelejo, Coveñas, and San Antonio de Palmito. So far, no injured persons or victims associated with the seismic movement have been reported. READ ALSO According to the first assessment provided from the Crisis Room established by the Governor's Office, the preliminary identified damages include a school in San Antonio de Palmito, where several classrooms were affected, as well as a commercial establishment in Sincelejo and a house in Coveñas. Inspections continue in various municipalities to determine if there are new damages resulting from the seismic event. Access to these areas is only permitted for officials while more detailed technical reviews are carried out. The institutional call has been to stay calm, only attend to official information, and avoid entering buildings with visible cracks, falls, or other signs of deterioration. The Departmental Education Secretariat recommended suspending academic activities in educational institutions for 24 hours to inspect infrastructure and verify that facilities are safe for the return of students, teachers, and administrative staff. Although the balance in Sucre remains preliminary, authorities emphasized that the situation remains under control and that actions focus on identifying possible structural damages that pose risks to the population.
