The Minister of Finance, Jorge Quiroz, highlighted the approval in the Chamber of Deputies of the vetoes that remove articles of the mega-reform which were incorporated by the opposition during its processing and which now must be reviewed by the Senate. Thus, President José Antonio Kast's observation number 1, to article 32 regarding the prohibition of usury - charging interest on interest - was supported by 75 votes in favor, 59 against, and 12 abstentions. Observation number 2, to article 39, related to the "right to be forgotten," was approved by 75 votes in favor, 58 against, and 13 abstentions; while observation number 3, to article 40, about the 30-day payment for small and medium-sized enterprises, obtained 74 votes in favor, 50 against, and 22 abstentions. Once the result was known, Quiroz valued the approval of the corrective amendments promoted by the Executive to the mega-project. "In practice, as was indeed reported at the time by the Central Bank and the CMF, usury and the right to be forgotten, in the way they were formulated, exist in our legislation both figures, but in a much more precise manner and generate adverse consequences," assured the Secretary of State. In the same vein, he pointed out that "the same applies to the 30-day payment, where the harmed parties could be the medium and small companies themselves." "With this, the legal framework of the Reconstruction Law is perfected, and we move forward with the last steps to have this law definitively converted into a normative body that governs the country's destiny and allows for rapid dynamism and economic growth," affirmed Quiroz. Regarding the requirements before the Constitutional Court (TC) that remain in the processing of the government's initiative, Quiroz stated that "the TC is a legitimate stage considered in our legal order, and we are very calm; we believe that all the regulations in this project are consistent with our Constitution and the law."
