The Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) reported that the 53 students belonging to the institution, who are engaged in academic activities at 13 Higher Education Institutions in Colombia, are safe and out of danger following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that shook the country this Monday. Through a statement, it explained that university authorities are in contact with the Mexican embassy in Colombia and are maintaining communication and monitoring the student community in that country, which includes 39 female students and 14 male students from the five university campuses in Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa, Lerma, and Xochimilco. It detailed that the mobility students are in Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, Medellín, and Tunja, where they are undertaking stays at various Colombian higher education institutions. It also mentioned that the UAM student community in Colombia belongs to more than 20 undergraduate programs, including Psychology, Biology, Architecture, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Social Communication, Economics, Graphic Communication Design, Philosophy, and Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics. Additionally, it highlighted that the General Rectorate, through the relevant bodies, will continue to monitor the situation and maintain support and communication with the students to ensure their safety and well-being.
