The interim government of Venezuela published its weekly bulletin on Monday, August 10, 2026, in which it raises the number of deaths to 6,301 due to the double earthquake of June 24. The previous report was released on August 3, when the official death toll was 6,125; that is, seven days after the last update, authorities added only 176 new victims, still not detailing the number of missing persons. The official document also details other indicators of the humanitarian impact and progress in the reconstruction phase. According to authorities, to date, 6,462 people have been rescued and 73,356 have been treated in hospital centers. Regarding housing, authorities report that 287 housing units have been delivered, while the total evaluated properties amount to 53,314. Of these, 31,336 are considered habitable, 12,411 have usage restrictions, and 9,567 are in high-risk condition. Meanwhile, they assure that cleanup and removal teams have removed 483,525.41 tons of debris, "which is equivalent to 23.26 percent of the estimated volume pending collection," the report states. More than a month and a half after the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that particularly affected Caracas and La Guaira state, the government continues to monitor the aftermath through these weekly reports. The increase in the death toll, although moderate compared to the first weeks of the emergency, seems to indicate that victims are still being recovered and counted, in a process that combines search efforts, forensic identification, and record updates. Authorities emphasize that the country is fully in the reconstruction stage, with an emphasis on structural assessment of homes, the delivery of new housing units, and the progressive removal of debris, although they acknowledge that the path to full recovery still requires sustained effort over time.
