At the Police Investigation Department (Deinpol) of the PDI in Cerrillos, on Monday afternoon, authorities provided details of a procedure carried out by the Zero Territorial Model team of the Huechuraba Criminal Investigation Brigade that led to the seizure of more than 800 kilos of drugs. The event was attended by the Minister of Public Security, Martin Arrau; the General Director of the Police Investigations (PDI), Eduardo Cerna; the National Prosecutor, Ángel Valencia; the Regional Prosecutor of the Metropolitan Central North Prosecutor's Office, Francisco Jacir; and the Presidential Delegate of the Metropolitan Region, Germán Codina. The operation resulted in the seizure of 827.8 kilos of marijuana and 1.2 kilos of cocaine, as well as the arrest of three individuals during raids conducted at properties in Estación Central and Pudahuel. The investigation, of a confidential nature, employed investigative techniques established in Law 20,000 and allowed for the identification of people linked to drug trafficking and the detection of properties used for storage. "It's more than 800 kilos of drugs that are seized and do not reach the streets, preventing them from being consumed by the youth of our country, trash that does not reach the streets. It's more than 800 kilos that had crossed our borders, passed the controls we have in the north, and had arrived in the Metropolitan Region," highlighted the national prosecutor. Valencia stated that "it is a historic, very significant seizure considering the Metropolitan Region." Furthermore, the authority emphasized the importance of joint work with the police. "This is a collective effort, a joint effort of the Chilean state. It is not just one institution that achieves these results, but it is the result of the combined effort of everyone committed to improving the safety levels of the citizens," he said. Additionally, Valencia called on the community and citizens to trust the work being done and to report the presence of drug trafficking in neighborhoods. "For these reports to continue, keep reporting microtrafficking in your neighborhoods because the police are working on these investigations, the Prosecutor's Office is leading these criminal inquiries, and these reports lead to results like this that directly impact not only the daily life of that particular neighborhood but also the networks that distribute that drug," he stated.
