Tobías Reinhart made his debut with Universidad de Chile. He started and played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Palestino at the National Stadium. His debut occurred less than a week after joining training at the Blue Sports Center and added an option to an area where Fernando Gago will have to make decisions in the upcoming matches. After the game, the coach explained why he decided to use the Argentine midfielder immediately. "I know Tobías since I was analyzing him. I talked to him, he was very eager to play, and I think it was the right moment to debut, so I am very happy for him," he said. "He trained very well during the week. I understood that playing at home and getting minutes would be important. He was working at a good pace, had a good preseason. That's why I decided he should play," he added. Reinhart's presence against Palestino was also determined by the absences that U had in the midfield. Lucas Barrera, who had been a starter, was suspended, while Israel Poblete is injured. So far, one of the formulas used by the coach involved Charles Aránguiz and Barrera in the midfield. The 20-year-old midfielder had started from the first minute in the victories against Audax Italiano and Huachipato and was one of the young players Gago gave continuity to since his arrival. Of course, this Sunday they started with a back three. In the second half, they returned to four defenders. He completed seven passes into the final third. In total, he attempted 36 passes and completed 30. That shows an accuracy of 83%. He also used long passes: he succeeded in three out of four attempts. Additionally, he recorded four recoveries during the 90 minutes. These records allow for comparisons with other options Gago has. His first performance, however, took place in a particular context due to Barrera and Poblete's absences. The competition can be more clearly measured when both are available again. Barrera has the advantage of the continuity he had achieved before his suspension. Reinhart, meanwhile, needed few trainings to get his first opportunity and completed the match against Palestino. Reinhart himself avoided setting individual goals during his arrival. "The first goal is to integrate well into the squad, into the team, into the coach's idea, and to be useful in what I am supposed to do. This is a big club, with big objectives. We have to fight for everything we set out to do," he affirmed. The decision also occurs as U tries to stay at the top of the Primera League.
