The Metropolitan West Prosecutor's Office reported the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of femicide in the case of a 37-year-old woman who was shot during Mother's Day in Buin.
The suspect had been in a relationship with the victim for a month and was already wanted for a previous homicide that occurred seven years ago.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the Criminalistics Laboratory and the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police to investigate the circumstances of the crime and locate the perpetrator.
According to the investigation, the victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest, inflicted by the now-detained suspect during an argument that took place inside the home where they both were, in Buin, around 10:00 PM on Sunday.
"The last time we spoke was around 7:00 PM. He called me and said he was coming to see her so we could be together for Mother's Day, but for various reasons, I couldn't," one of her sons told T13.
The woman was reportedly taken by the same aggressor to the San Luis Hospital in Buin-Paine. Her death was confirmed at the hospital.
The Chief Prosecutor of West Flagrant Crimes, Patricio Rosas, explained that they are investigating a case of intimate femicide.
"This man, after an argument with his partner, pulled out a firearm and shot her," the prosecutor stated.
The victim had four children, two of whom are minors.
