The Minister Quiroz recently expressed concern about the availability of resources to finance the daycare project (US$300 million annually). This is a valid concern in times of fiscal responsibility; however, it is important to analyze the situation as a whole.
Currently, the reconstruction plan includes US$1.4 billion in credit lines for hiring. While these measures aim to prevent layoffs, they risk being ineffective if they do not address structural barriers, such as the current "tax on female employment," which represents the cost of daycare. More than an expense, its funding should be understood as an investment with a direct social and economic return.
In this regard, we invite the Executive Branch to prioritize this project, integrating it as a fundamental pillar of the economic recovery.
