A member of the Coast Guard Administration monitors the Chinese research ship “Tongji” in waters close to Oluanpi, Taiwan’s southernmost point, on Thursday last week in a photo released by the coast guard yesterday. The ship was suspected of conducting illegal marine research, and the coast guard closed in while issuing radio warnings and ordering it to cease operating and leave, it said, adding that it continued to shadow the Chinese ship until yesterday, when it left waters close to Taiwan.
