A bipartisan group of senators has urged President Donald Trump to advance a $14 billion arms sale for Taiwan and signal to Chinese leader Xi Jinping at a summit in Beijing this week that US support for the island nation is non-negotiable.
The letter from eight senators, dated May 8 and released Monday, stressed the Taiwan weapons package approved by Congress in January 2025 is “vital to our own national interests.”
