Iranian state media shed light on its negotiating team’s latest demands in talks with the U. S., which President Trump roundly rejected on Sunday. Iran demanded war reparations, Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and U. S. sanctions ending, along with the return of frozen assets, according to reports. According to the Wall Street Journal, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said decisions on how to move forward with Iran’s nuclear program would be settled when “the time is right.” The U. S. wants Iran to drop its claims over the Strait of Hormuz and make firm commitments to end its nuclear program as part of any initial agreement. The Department of Health and Human Services announced Sunday night that one American on the cruise ship that experienced a hantavirus outbreak has tested positive for the virus, while another is experiencing mild symptoms. NBC News reported that the 17 Americans who were on the ship had returned to the U. S., with a government plane touching down early Monday morning in Nebraska, where they will be monitored in a quarantine center. On Capitol Hill, Congress is returning from its one-week recess with a packed agenda, diving back into many of the same high-stakes issues that dominated lawmakers’ attention last month. Here’s what to watch. Meanwhile, President Trump is gearing up for his trip to China later this week, as the conflict in Iran threatens to to be a dark cloud. Trump on Monday will participate in a maternal healthcare event at 10:30 a.m. and host the 2026 NCAA football champion Indiana Hoosiers at 4 p.m. Follow live below.
